Families

Many families invest in photography to document their growing families. These portraits are often use on a Christmas card and shared on social media, but I believe the best way to enjoy your memories is on the walls of your home. They become a beautiful way to personalize your decor and enjoy your portraits daily. However I’ve found that many families stop short of hanging their portraits on the wall.

Why? Well, truthfully designing a gallery wall for your home can be challenging. There are so many little details and decisions involved in the process. You have to wade through and select what images to use, find a quality frame to match your decor, figure out the correct sizing and scale for your wall, and then….the worst part…actually hang them all!

There is an easier way!

The Benefits of a Photographer who Provides Custom Gallery Walls

Part of the photography services offered to my clients is custom gallery wall design. There are so many benefits to having your photographer provide these services. We can plan your entire photo session with the goal of creating images for your specific home. Together we can use the style and color scheme of your home to help select your wardrobe and location to best fit your space. We also discuss the feeling you want your images to portray. Is it a formal space for posed portraits? Or do you prefer a comfortable lived in feel with more candid shots? Our entire session can be geared towards your project!

Another benefit of having your photographer custom design your framing is that we can build your gallery wall over time. These sample gallery walls are from clients that I’ve been photographing for many years. We went through their images and selected milestones through the years that tell the story of their children, focusing on key times and memories they wanted framed.

Framing Mockups and Sizing

One of the toughest parts of designing your own gallery wall is figuring out the correct size and scale for for your frames. I use actually photos of my clients’ homes to measure and scale our frames. This way we can see what sizing looks best for their space.

In this example below, my client wanted one statement piece for the end of a hallway. This particular home has high ceilings, and we wanted the frame to be clearly visible at the end of the hallway. While it may not look huge, this frame is actually quite large! The print inside is 16×24 inches with a 4 inch mat surrounding it. This large size was needed for the scale of the hallway to be clearly visible and to avoid looking too small and poorly designed.

Gallery Wall Installation

One of the most common difficulties is actually hanging those frames on the wall! My gallery wall design services include installation for local clients. This means I come to your home and hang your frames on the wall so you don’t have to fuss with it!
