I’m sharing answers for the most frequently asked questions about newborn photos in Greenville SC. I’m been photographing newborns in their homes for over 10 years. During this time I’ve created a streamlined process to keep everything stress free and enjoyable for moms and families. I believe in taking on less clients and delivering a top notch service to each family I have the honor of serving.
Most families reach out by the beginning of their second trimester. I only take a limited number of due dates each month so I can serve each family to the fullest. So as soon as you feel comfortable, its a good idea to reserve your session!
I pencil moms in on their due date, then I wait to confirm after the birth. Most families reach out to let me know the baby has been born and we will select a session date 1-2 weeks after. There is no rush! Every mom and baby heals and adjusts differently, and you should have a few days to just bond with your baby before photos take place. I advise at least giving yourself 1 week after delivery so your excess swelling from hospital fluids can go down.
I’m known for my work in client’s homes, however I do offer a studio option! Most clients come to me because they want their newborn portraits taken in their own nursery and home. My clients typically spend a lot of time and effort in creating a beautiful nursery space and want that included in their newborn photos in Greenville SC. Great in home newborn photography requires specific lighting techniques to achieve a consistent, beautiful result. My small lighting setup allows me to achieve incredible newborn photos in any home.
If you are interested in my style of newborn photography but don’t want your portraits done in your home, I also have a studio option. There is a timeless, all white studio that I can provide for portraits of your family and newborn.
I send detailed guides to clients to advise them on what to wear for a newborn session. I always recommend starting with mom’s outfit. Flowing dresses are often most complimentary after delivering a baby. Take note of the colors in your nursery and dress to match those. Neutrals and soft colors are always a great option.
This is where expertise comes in! It is SO important to select a photographer who specializes in working with children. Taking portraits is one area of expertise…wrangling small children is a whole other area that require patience, practice, and experience. I’ve been photographing young families for over 10 years. Navigating relationships with young children and babies is a key part of what I do! It also helps that I’m a former teacher, mother of 3, and a baby whisperer in the baby nursery room at my church.
It’s what happens after the session that really sets my experience apart. I don’t leave you with a bunch of digital images and the task of figuring out what to do with them! After a session we schedule a video call so you can see all your final edited images. This way I’m present and available to help you with any questions and to guide you as you pick whether you prefer an album, framed artwork, or other products to display your images. I walk clients through every step of the process so you aren’t left alone trying to figure out the best way to enjoy your images. After the call I place the order for any products and immediately deliver an online gallery of the images purchased.
Many families want to document more than just their baby’s newborn session. This is why I offer memberships! Memberships include 2 or more sessions over an 18 month period. Clients who enroll in a membership get priority booking, and a discount at each ordering appointment. Those who opt for a membership have the option to build an album by adding their favorite portraits from each session. This way they end their membership with an album documenting their baby’s whole first year! The most popular session choices for memberships are maternity, newborn, sitter, and first birthday.
