This dining room designed by Atlanta area interior designer Elise Forness is all comfort and warmth. While some dining rooms can seem stuffy and formal, this is a welcoming space where you can gather all your loved ones to share meals. From the lighting fixtures to the bar cart, every corner has been well planned and placed.
I love the mix of seating Elise use for this dining table. The ends of the table have soft, upholstered chairs with high backs, adding the smallest hint of formality that is found in the traditional dining room. This is balanced by a church pew bench on one side of the table and three wooden chairs on the other.
As a mom of three young children, I have a great love and appreciation for farmhouse tables, because they are sturdy and perfect for kids! And as a photographer, I love that Elise incorporated three classic portraits of the family’s children on the wall. This dining room is the perfect balance of rustic farmhouse with a sprinkle of more traditional, formal touches.
